A Tribute to Mr. Jacques Valbrun
Mr. Jacques Valbrun
He was a father .
He was a mentor.
He was a friend.
It is never too late !!!
Mr. Valbrun was one of the most versatile teachers I have ever known in Haiti. He was the only one that could easily teach English, French, Creol, and Spanish using such a state-of-the-art methodology that even the dummiest students could understand, learn and then speak in no time. Therefore, he was polyglot.
Although Jacques carried all this knowledge, people who really knew would tell you how humble he was all his life until that earthquake that stroke Haiti on January 12...............together with his wife, put an end to his life.Curiousely, he always believed that he would live over one hundred years since it is something that runs in his family. His mother for example was more than 100 years when she died.
Some people were more than fortunate to be surrounded by such an intellectual as teacher Jacques Valbrun. As a testimony of this assertion, many haitian English teachers, Spanish teachers, or French teachers can corroborate this absolute truth. No doubt, Mr. Jacques Valbrun´s works reflected the intellectual climate of the time in Haiti and in Dominican Republic where he played a vital role in respect of facilitating a better bilateral relations between Haiti and Dominican Republic by creating ASCUHADO which is Associacion Cultural Haitiono-Dominicano. He was surrounded by the most influent haitian intellectuals such as: Emmanuel Buteau, Maitre Sannon, Ernst Mathurin, Jeannot Merisier, Maitre Léonce ( Roussan Camille), Maitre Carmel, Maitre Julmiste, to mention a few. He was also surrounded by some eminent Dominican intellectuals such as Señor Dario ( Universidad Caribeño), Señora Soledad ( Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo), to mention a few. He believed that the best way to solve the problems between the two countries and keep peace and free trade depend on the intellectuals of both coutries. His approach was totally different the ideas or so called resolutions in vogue by that time.He also received the indispensable support from his adorable wife and his two sons to realize such tremendous work.
Therefore, words are not enough to express my gratitude and pay a tribute to this great haitian : Mr. Jacques Valbrun.
