PHRASAL VERBS


1-   Go back on :   When you make a promise, but you do not keep it, you go back on your promise.
             ex : Jane promised to marry me two years ago, but she went back on it.


2-   Monkey around with : When you try to fix or repair mechanical devices even though you do not have permission or do not have the skill to do it properly.
                               ex : Please don´t even try to monkey around the laptop computer. You´d better take it to Global Tech right away. They´ll fix it in no time.


3-   Run over : When you drive over people or things with a car, truck or other vehicle causing damage, injury, or death.
                             ex : Ranchesca ran over Omar´s dog last night and killed it.


4- Run over     : When a liquid in a container fills the container and goes over the top.
                        ex : keep an eye on the bathtub so that it doesn´t run over.


5- Run over  : When you go beyond the limit.
                        ex : The meeting is 30 minutes. You shouldn´t run over !


6- Ring......up : when you want to buy something in a store, a cashier uses cash register to ring up what you buy in order to determine how much money you must pay.
                 ex : The cashier was talking on the phone while ringing the items up
.
7- Tear... down : When you deliberately demolish an old building and erect a new one.
                   ex : They´re tearing some old buildings down in the Colonial Zone this week.


 8- Fight back  : When you try hard to control emotions such as : tears, anxiety, and fear.
                   ex : Maria Natividad was about to cry, but she fought back When Isis came in.


 9- Fall over yourself / Fall all over yourself : When you try so hard to serve someone or make someone like you that appear ridiculous, foolish, or stupid.
                ex : Mayo was falling all over himself in the class last Friday trying to impress Jennifer.


10- Fall over : When people or things fall to the ground from an upright position.
                    ex : Andreina almost fell over this morning while mopping the floor.
